I want to go back to the swing of things as swiftly as possible. And with that I’ve decided to return my old feature I called “What’s On My Reading List?”
This is a special feature on Rainy Ink where I present you the books I’m planning to read & manga I recently read (or have read). I decided to do this in hope that I’ll able to de-clutter my ever piling TBR.
That feature of mine that reminds me I have tons of things to read. Sometimes feels like a chore, but more often an undeniable need.
I don’t have books prepared to read this month. Why? Because I was still unable to read most of the books I supposed to read here & here. One of the reasons why I do this feature is to declutter. If I keep piling books after books then this method will be rendered useless.
I’ve stayed away from all the things that will make me get more books than I can handle: like netgalley and edelweiss. If I managed to read all those books I promised myself I will (no matter how long it’ll take me) then I guess that’s the time I’ll be getting new reads. As of this moment my interest gravitates towards manga. And I love indulging myself to what my heart desires.
So many manga to read! Like seriously! For some reason I always stumble across new series. Plus this is what I love to read right now. I keep snooping around amazon or pub’s sites to see new series especially for girls/women demographic. Ugh, I have very fragile fangirl heart.
I promised myself not to read Boku Dake ga Inai Machi manga since I read the news of the anime being faithful to it plus, it will apparently follow the same ending. But I caved in! I’m weak and it was mind blowing experience! Had me on the edge of my seat on every freaking chapter. Superb~! Boku ni Hana no Melancholy is a shoujo manga on the emo/sad side (hence the title). Being the male MC is brooding & all that. It wasn’t super good (so far) but definitely interesting to stick around. Ginban Kishi is about ice skating with a very adorable love story! I was kinda surprised to really love it because the author’s previous works didn’t work well with me (She is famous for Kimi wa Petto). But this one so cute & light! Kokoro is so adorable!!!
Game – Suit no Sukima is a hella sexy manga. Two head strong individuals in a fiery, sensual game of lust~! So yes, it’s not intended for kids (if you know what I mean *wiggle eyebrows*) . I love the author’s one shot + the male MC looks like Arima Kishou (from Tokyo Ghoul) that it immediately piqued my interest. I’m not into smut but this one looks good. I love how tough the female MC is. And another somewhat sexy read (but not entirely on par with Game) is Kekkon x Renai. I usually don’t like older female, younger male trope but this one is kinda OK with me. Same as Mikansei Lovers but unlike the former this one was so cute. Even though they were like 5- 6? years apart but how pure the guy’s love towards the girl you just can’t help but to root for him. The final chapter was so sweet, like eff yes HEA FTW! Haha
Mikazuki to Nagareboshi has a very interesting romantic plot. The girl is in love with man who has a son that is also in love with her. Aaah~ so complicated! And I love it! While Sleeping Beauty by Doumoto Nao is psychological drama that kept me one Saturday evening sleepless and confused. You know those stories that made you suspect everyone even the MC! Yep, that kind. Although the ending was little underwhelming but it was good, nonetheless.
Finally Under Hero is one hilarious son of a gun! It’s a love triangle between the assistant (female MC), the best-selling mangaka (guy #2) & his editor (guy #1). It was a riot! So loved this one!
Mikansei Lovers and Sleeping Beauty are finished series. And I six titles above are josei. Yep, I’m currently into mature reads, haha.
A favorite series of mine is ending, Koi Dano Ai Dano is slated to end in April. And recently Watashi no Ookami-kun just ended. There went my ship…sunk into the deep blue sea. *ugly sobs*
So how about you, how’s the reading pile? Overwhelming like mine? Care to share it with me?
