With the influx of books to movies adaptation that are being made right now and with the recent opening of Divergent (which I will tell you right now that I will not going to see it because I hate the book. I don’t think I can endure 2+ hours of it), I decided to share something about books to movie adaptation. We all know that OST is also important in the whole thing. Am I right or am I right? Today I’ll share to you my top five songs from the official soundtrack of movies based on books.

❺ Song Title: Spiritual / Performed by: Katy Perry:

Movie: Vampire Academy (2014)
Book: Vampire Academy by Richelle MeadI love Katy Perry. There’s something about pop music that’s simple and very enjoyable. I liked most of her songs but I loved the ones that are tamer, slow beat than her usual singles. I didn’t know that this song was included in the album, only when I checked it out that I found out.

❹ Song Title: Dare You to Move / Performed by: Switchfoot:

Movie: A Walk to Remember (2002)
Book: A Walk to Remember by Nicholas SparksThis is very sentimental movie and book to me. I was only a junior in high school when the movie came out and I was totally crushing on Shane West that time. My older sister had a cassette tape of the official soundtrack of the movie and I love every song in there. But this one stuck to me. It has a powerful message in there that I truly loved.

❸ Song Title: Safe & Sound / Performed by: Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars:

Movie: The Hunger Games (2012)
Book: The Hunger Games by Suzanne CollinsGot to admit that when I heard that Taylor Swift was part of the OST, I was really, really reluctant. I love Taylor Swift don’t get me wrong  (her concert here in Manila last 2011 was my very first International concert ever) but I was hoping for a more upbeat and leaning more on rock side than a country song. But then I heard it and it was hunting. I ended up loving it.

❷ Song Title: Radioactive Performed by: Imagine Dragons:

Movie: The Host (2013)
Book: The Host by Stephanie MeyerI haven’t read the book but I watched already watched the movie. It wasn’t bad, gotta thank Max Irons for that. But one that truly stuck to me was the song. It has lot of elements in there. Somewhat ethnic, a bit electronic, then obvious rock element to it. It really matches the atmosphere of the movie and the theme of the book which is Sci-fi. I loved, loved it!

❶ Song Title: Decode Performed by: Paramore

Movie: Twilight (2008)
Book: Twilight by Stephanie MeyerI love Paramore way before I knew this song, way before I even started reading. I was really a huge fan of Haley Williams. Her voice is so full & powerful. And I loved how fitting the song was to the story. It was eerie and dark about it that kinda stuck with you when you hear it, whether you’re fan or not of the book. I’ve heard way before I read Twilight and loved it.

It’s completely coincidence that my top two are from Stephanie Meyer books. What can I say I love the songs!

How about you, what are your favorite songs from movies based on books. Please share it with me! :YAY:

I might not like Twilight but I know I was insanely in love with Decode. I think I had it on replay. But this is Paramore so the affiliation didn’t matter.

  2. Oooh! :D This is cool :) I love Beating Heart from Divergent’s Soundtrack, and also I love I See Fire that was from The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug! :D Taylor Swift’s Safe And Sound is also another one of my favourites :3
Thanks for sharing Mitchii dear!! :D <33

Don’t know any songs from the Divergent OST bcos I steer clear of this fandom, haha. I love Taylor Swift but hesitated at first when I first found it but gaaaah, it was hauntingly beautiful.

  3. There was this time that I was practically obsessed with Safe and Sound, lol! <3 I really liked Radioactive as well. :)

    • Mitchii G. says:

I didn’t like it the first time I heard of it but it gradually warmed up on me and I ended up loving it. Radioactive probably one the reason why I even watched The Host.

The Divergent soundtrack wasn’t bad, mitchii! No to the movie but yes to the singers. And I still hate Taylor, but Safe and Sound was haunting. And OMG, Radioactive went viral on the radio way before that movie. I don’t know how it fits The Host.

But I love IG, so recommendations: Monster, Ready, Aim, Fire, and then Bleeding Out. I love those three. And for the Divergent soundtrack, I second Em’s suggestion, and then there’s Zedd’s Find You. Zedd has great beats.

And we have different tastes on Perry! I’m fond of her more upbeat songs, but I am an upbeat type of person when it comes to songs. (I HATE YOU YOU’RE READING VICIOUS)

    • Mitchii G. says:

I haven’t checked it out yet. You know how I avoided anything related to it, haha. I love Taylor Swift but I admit that I’m more fond of her old more country music than what she does now.

I heard when I saw the trailer of The Host. I watched on the day it was released, which is to say wasn’t a quite bad.

I always like her slow, tame songs. But her upbeat ones are totally dance-fest, haha. ;D

I have already read it. *hides*

    • Shannelle C. says:

Do you know the Ginny stare meme? Because right now, GINNY STARE.

      Lend it to me?

    • Mitchii G. says:

I would if it’s paperback but it’s an e-book. The paperback and especially hardback are made of gold. ($16 for PB and $27 for the HB, my last check…that’s too much even for me. D:)

  5. Pretty Little Reader says:

I was so surprised when I realized Safe and Sound was sung by Taylor Swift! On the one hand, it sounds just like her. But at the same time, it’s a little different from all her other stuff.

I was obsessed with Radioactive for the longest time! But I overplayed it and now I’m kind of sick of it.

Dare You to Move makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry, probably because I associate it with that movie.

I didn’t realize Katy Perry had a song for the VA soundtrack! I love it though :)

Say what you want about Twilight, but those movies all had AWESOME soundtracks!

    • Mitchii G. says:

It was really different, it’s not her typical sound which made me liked it even more.

Haha, that’s what happens when we abused the replay button. xD

AWTR is one my absolute favorite movie (more so than the book; two words Shane West). Such a tearjerker and the OST is love. I loved all the songs in there.

I didn’t know, too until I saw the playlist.

AGREE!!! The OST is huzzah! <3

  6. Makaela T says:

I LOVE The Civil Wars. I started listening to them after Safe & Sound came out. I listen to all of their albums for a day every once in a while. It’s perfect Winter music. =)

  7. Erin O'Riordan says:

Great song – and book – choices!

  8. Паолина says:

i love all fife of them!
