It’s December and while I’m happy that I have reached my goal earlier than expected *self- applauding* there are still books that I still haven’t read. Yeah, before when I was beginning to read books (I told you many times that I’m not really bookworm when I was bit younger). I don’t know which books to read, so I end picking up everything that fancy my taste. And miraculously I did end up loving ‘em. Now that I haven’t been here for quite some time my taste has changed. I’m not easy to please anymore plus the fact that I’m lucky to get ARCs now, I’m not buying books blindly anymore. You can say my palate has upgraded. Even the most hyped books sometimes don’t measure up.

Well, I’m sorry if my introduction is sort of misleading. I’m not gonna talk about my eclectic taste, haha, if I do have one. I saw this meme on livejournal and I found it interesting. It’s about books that I absolutely had to have (or already have) but still haven’t read. But to make it recent (and so you wouldn’t know how much slacking happened in the previous years *yep, guilty as charged*) I’m only going to feature books released this year (despite my little achievement, I’d still showed some laziness, hur!).

BOOKS THAT I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO HAVE (OR ALREADY HAVE) BUT STILL HAVEN’T READ (IN 2013)

top-6-a

❶ Everbound (Everneath #2) by Brodi Ashton
Published: January 22nd 2013 by Balzer + Bray

I’m not really a big fan of Everneath but something’s telling me I still need to continue it, hence not dropping the series.

❷ Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Published: February 26th 2013 by St. Martin’s Press

I tried Fangirl but a few pages in still didn’t grab me so I decided to put in on-hold, meanwhile this book has something more charming, plot-wise than Fangirl. So I’m still intrigued, and it’s too soon to shun Rainbow Rowell books. This might save my earlier distaste.

❸ Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy #2) by Wendy Higgins
Published: April 30th 2013 by HarperTeen

I have this book. It’s been sitting on my shelf for months now. Months?!!!!!! I don’t know why but I couldn’t start reading it, no matter how much I want to read it because of, well, Kaidan. What the hell is wrong with me?! LOL

top-6-b

Antigoddess (Goddess War #1) by Kendare Blake
Published: September 10th 2013 by Tor Teen

I have yet to read Anna Dressed in Blood, and now a new series from the author that sound really up my alley. But ugh, once again, like her earlier work, I still haven’t read it. I want it but I still hesistate. Even I’m confused with myself. x.x

The Bone Season (The Bone Season #1) by Samantha Shannon
Published: August 20th 2013 by Bloomsbury Publishing

The hype. The massive and phenomenal hype. (enough said) :heh: :p

World After (Penryn & the End of Days #2) by Susan Ee
Published: November 19th 2013 by Skyscape

Another massively hyped book but I need to read Angelfall first. Yeah, I’m such a slacker and quite remarkably an accomplished book hoarder. LMAO But I gotta have this!

There you have it, that’s my top list of books I need to have but haven’t read because (1) laziness (2) tons of other distracting books (3) and my impulse to read randomly. Hehe, have myself to blame, but don’t worry books. I’ll read you, sooner than you think, ha!

How about do you? Do you also have an unfortunately neglect list for this year? Care to share it with me. Promise no judging on my part (no pot & kettle metaphor will be thrown) .  ;)

  1. I liked Everbound a lot. I really want to get started in Angelfall!

I found the first book so-so, but my gut says still continue it. Maybe, I’ll try following my guts for once, haha. Yeah, Angelfall sounds so epic, that’s why I was sort hesitant bcos it might end up a little ‘meh’ to me, so crosses fingers. :D

Eleanor & Park was an okay read. I really loooovveed Rainbow Rowell’s first book – Attachments. Two characters in that book had an excellent friendship. They had really funny conversations.

I’ve heard excellent things about Angelfall too! And I’m excited to start it. Angel books are usually not my thing, but what my friends have told me is very promising. :D

I sure do have a lot of books I still should read. I have ARCs I need to read like Winger by Andrew Smith and More Than This by Patrick Ness. I will get to it! (Hopefully soon. :P)

    • Mitchii G. says:

Oh really, many people loved Eleanor & Park so I thought it’s better than Fangirl. I’m so left behind with all these Angelfall madness. Maybe from the list this is first one I’ll read.

Haha, ARCs are like double edge sword, you read book beforehand but on the other hand limits you to read your books (beach they kept piling and piling & you end up reading them). Thanks Cee. xD

  3. Oh I have a total book neglect too! :D Oh you have, HAVE to read World After and Antigoddess!! THEY ARE SO GOOD :3 I’ve just started Antigoddess, but I like what I’m seeing :) I hope you do have time to pick all of these up Mitchii!! <33

    • Mitchii G. says:

I have been hearing so many good things about this book. I might try it soon then.Oh that’s good to hear, I have any personal expectations since I haven’t anything read by the author. Thanks Emily, I hope I’ll be able to read ’em sooner. xD

  4. Amicia Rai says:

I stopped reading “Fangirl” as well because I just couldn’t connect to the main character, even though I should know a lot about the subject. I saw a lot of people hyping about it, but I can’t say I like the book very much. :(
I have a stash of neglected books as well, but hopefully I’ll read some of them during the winter holidays! ^_^

  5. Elizabeth says:

Oh man I really hated Everneath…but I’m totally with you. Somehow I have to keep reading!

  6. Pretty Little Reader says:

Everything by Rainbow Rowell is so hyped up that I just can’t stomach the thought of reading any of her books. There’s just no way they can live up to the hype. She’s almost reached John Green status, another hyped author I haven’t been able to read for fear of heightened expectations.

I did love Angelfall, but I wasn’t as impressed with World After. I hope you enjoy both when you get to them!

    • Mitchii G. says:

Oh my gosh, same here, I don’t know why but I’m shunning away from John Green books. It’s not really the hype but a gut feeling that I wouldn’t like it. So I didn’t spare my time trying. But I’m giving Rainbow Rowell another try (though I wasn’t really into Fangirl).

Heard so many things about Angelfall, will try it soon. :3
